Northglade Garden

A family nursery on the edge of the woods. Hardy plants, grown slowly, outdoors.

What we grow

Everything here spends at least one winter outside before it is sold, so what leaves the nursery already knows cold nights and late frosts. We keep the list short and grow what we can look after properly.

This season

Autumn is planting time. Bare-root trees and hedging are lifted to order from November, once the leaves are down; perennials in pots can go in until the ground freezes.

Orders for bare-root fruit trees open in late October. We label every tree with its variety and rootstock, and we are happy to talk through pollination partners.

Visiting

The nursery is open on Saturdays from April to October, 10:00–16:00. Twice each summer we hold an open garden weekend: the display beds, the old orchard and the pond are open to walk around, and there is tea under the lime tree. Dogs on leads are welcome.
